Globalization
Globalization is defined as the process of international integration. There are several "types" of globalization as follows;
Ecological Globalization: The idea that the planet is to be treated as a single ecosystem rather than a collection of ecological systems
Political Globalization: The increasing number of human associations and power that influence and govern the world as a whole.
Cultural Globalization: The trading of ideas and information among different cultures.
Sociological Globalization: Promoting the belief that the whole human race are all apart of one society. The increase of a set of common attitudes, standards and behaviours existing in every country.
Technological Globalization: The Growth of the world through technology
Economic Globalization: The expansion of large companies and corporations to an international scale.
Geographical Globalization: Boundaries that were placed around the world are becoming increasingly irrelevant.
Opinion
In my opinion Globalization is an issue that cannot be avoided. I don't think it is a realistic option to be against globalization, as it is an unstoppable force overpowering us by advancing technology and the aspirations of us humans. However, I do believe there can be improvements made to the way we are changing the world through what is called Globalization. I believe that those of us who have concerns about equality and justice need to use our voices to influence the direction that globalization takes. For example, Globalization does not affect Climate Change in a very positive manner. Because of the huge expansion of large companies and corporations, producing mass amounts of products, there is an increase in the fossil fuel consumption and gas emissions released into our atmosphere. It does not mean that we have to stop urbanizing altogether but we need to regulate our production
of pollution. Mainly, we have to find a way to set aside our selfish human ways. The problem with economic globalization is that we begin to produce too much when we don't need it. I think that in order to make Globalization a success, we need to come to a realization of what we really need versus what we really want and also we need to acknowledge and learn how to treat everyone as an equal. Otherwise, the rich will have too much power over the rest of the world and societies. On the brighter side of things, however, Globalization is able to extend the opportunities to communicate and share economic interests. Because the world is increasingly merging together, cultural diversity enhancement is made possible and brings us together as a whole society. Making the world a smaller place through globalization is bound to promote world peace and cooperation little by little. As countries become more aware of one another, they also come to rely on each other for goods and services. Due to the increasing interdependence and awareness, the likelihood of warfare can be reduced. Education levels are also increasing due to demands of globalization. People are forced to become aware of worldwide concerns because of the development and continuously advancing technology. With an increased level of knowledge, it can be hoped that the rates of discrimination and violence and such issues are to decrease.
